SEAI Better Energy Home Grants
The SEAI Better Energy Homes programme offers grants to help you install a heat pump system in your home and realise these benefits. SEAI also provides funding towards a Technical Assessment of your home by an independent SEAI registered Technical Advisor, who will help you make an informed decision and ensure your home and the heat pump system are a good match.

Who can apply?
APPLIES TO HOMES BUILT AND OCCUPIED BEFORE 2011.
All homeowners, including landlords, whose homes were built and occupied before 2011 can apply. This is defined as the date your electricity meter was installed. Note that this is different to other grant measures where the home must be built before 2006.
What are the requirements to register as a heat pump installer?
Eligibility requirements for heat pump installers would include a FETAC Level 6 plumbing certificate with a minor in electrics, a certificate of competency from the manufacturers of the appliances they intend installing, and – from 1 January 2019 – FETAC Level 6 in heatpump installation or registration on SEAI’s register of renewables installers.
As with all other registered contractors under the programme, heat pump installers will also be required to abide by the Better Energy Homes terms and conditions, including requirements to be tax compliant and properly insured. They must complete the installation in full accordance with the code of practice. They will also be subject to SEAI’s quality assurance and disciplinary procedure.
