Solar water heating systems take advantage of the free heat supplied by the sun to warm domestic hot water (DHW). These solutions provide DHW throughout the year, and they can be supported by boilers or immersion heaters to ensure you have hot water whenever you need it.

If you are planning to replace your existing boiler and already have solar panels on your home, many of our products are designed to support the use of energy from these panels to supplement your heating with a completely natural, green energy source. We also offer a range of solar collectors, and if you are investing in a new heating system, we advise you to consider designing it from the outset to incorporate these collectors. We provide evacuated tube and flat plate collector systems, both of which can be mounted on your roof.

Taking advantage of this renewable energy technology will help you to lower your consumption of mains energy, which in turn will reduce your fuel bills and cut your carbon footprint.

Solar thermal systems for DHW heating and central heating backup

Our solar flat plate solar collectors are designed to be integrated seamlessly with our condensing boilers to achieve the best possible results. Our condensing boilers convert up to 98 per cent of fuel oil or gas used into heat. So, when these two technologies are combined, they can bring major savings in terms of your heating costs and they can reduce your usage of fossil fuels – which is obviously good news for the environment.

Our flat plate collectors can also be used in combination with a wood heating system or a heat pump.

Saving up to 60 per cent of the energy required for DHW heating each year, our solar flat-plate collectors are powerful and efficient.

Flat plate solar collectors harness the free energy provided by the sun to help you reduce your energy bills and lower your carbon footprint. The systems collect warmth from the sun and use it to heat up water, which is then stored in a highly insulated hot water cylinder.

These collectors provide hot water throughout the year, and when supplemented with other heating sources such as condensing boilers, they ensure you have access to all the heating and hot water you need. Their peak output occurs during the summer, but because they are so efficient, they produce hot water year-round even in cloudy conditions.

Viessmann’s evacuated tube solar collectors offer a highly effective way to harness the sun’s energy to provide hot water for your home. By installing these solar thermal collectors on your property, you stand to reduce your energy bills and cut your carbon footprint.

Vacuum tube collectors work by absorbing heat from the sun to produce hot water, which is then stored in a highly insulated cylinder. The collectors can meet a significant proportion of your household’s hot water needs, and they can be supplemented by other heating systems to ensure you have access to all the hot water you need year-round. Their peak output occurs during the summer months, but they work throughout the seasons and produce hot water even in overcast conditions.

Our evacuated tube collectors are designed and made to offer impressive levels of efficiency and reliability. They feature a highly selective coating that absorbs vast amounts of solar energy. In addition, their vacuum design means the tubes have very effective thermal insulation. This ensures there is almost no loss of heat between the absorber and the glass tubes.

The Vitosol product line-up

The Vitosol family of advanced flat-plate and tube collectors impress thanks to their high operational reliability and long service life. Vitosol solar collectors are made of corrosion – and UV-resistant  materials. This is impressively verified by quality testing as per test standard EN 12975 or ISO 9801, which also confirms the consistently high thermal output.

High performance Vitosol 100-FM flat-plate collectors are the perfect addition to any heating system. With an individual absorber area of 2.3 m², solar collectors can be effectively matched to any energy demand.

On average, they can replace up to 60 percent of the energy that would otherwise be required each year for DHW heating, and contribute to central heating backup. When used in conjunction with a condensing boiler, free solar energy can help you reduce your annual energy consumption for heating and DHW by over one third.

The second unit of the Vitovalor serves primarily to provide heat during times of peak demand. That is, when it is very cold outside or when a lot of hot water is required at short notice. It consists of a gas fuel cell appliance, a DHW cylinder, a heat exchanger and a heating water buffer cylinder with integral indirect coil for DHW heating. Other components in the second unit are a weather-compensated control unit, hydraulic components and an electricity meter. Both units are supplied via a common gas line. They also share a common flue system, which makes installation as easy as for a wall mounted gas condensing boiler.

Featuring an individual absorber area of 2.3m², these powerful flat plate collectors can be matched to any energy demand. They can be installed vertically or horizontally and benefit from a ThermProtect absorber layer.

Particularly recommended for use in restricted spaces, the Vitosol 300-TM is one of the most efficient vacuum tube collectors on the market. This high performance system is ideal for use on detached homes and apartment buildings and it is exceptionally safe.

The Vitosol 300-TM high performance collector is one of the most efficient models on the market and is particularly recommended for use in restricted spaces. The absorber angle can be adjusted by +/-25° to deliver an exceptionally high yield, even when the sun is in less favourable positions.

The collector can be installed and used in any position and is designed for use on detached houses and apartment buildings. It features ThermProtect automatic temperature-dependent shutdown, which is activated if heat draw-off stagnates for a long period whilst there is a high level of insolation.
